Heath Ledger's final film

It does make me sad, because I thought Heath Ledger was a great actor who had yet to truly come into his own. I really believe this movie would have done wonderful things for his career.

Heath Ledger passed away on January 22, 2008, and he will be missed.

Today's background music was...

Today, my music mood went into a different direction. This is where it went.

The beginning...

Then...

Next was...

After that...

It ended with thoughts of someone very special to me...

Enough said.

Another example of someone who doesn't know restaurant etiquette

We've been having some very unusual weather here in Southern California for the last couple of weeks.

It's been raining. That is something that is very rare here. Which is a lot of the reason we had so many fires this past fall.

In California, rain makes the stupidity factor come forth in multitude. Unbelievably so.

It makes our job of serving pizza to the masses that much more of an interesting experience.

It's been a while since I've given you a good work story, mostly because I haven't had one. That changed today. I guess that I should lead into this with a little background on the way things work when I'm running my shifts at work. If your nice to the employees, we will give you damn near anything to make sure your happy with your order, and our service.

Get disrespectful, and you get to deal with me. As a few people have found out, this is really the last thing you want to happen. Our phone/counter people are the best trained and most helpful employees in Orange County, a fact that me and the rest of the management staff are very proud of. So when you call, the information they give you is always accurate. If we run out of something when you place an internet order, we call you back immediately to see what needs to be done to get your order taken care of.

Because of the rain, we have been extra busy, since so many people here don't know how to function when a little water falls from the sky. We started running out of stuff at around 6:30pm tonight, to the point I had to stop delivery for almost 2 hours to get caught up. Around this time, we got an internet order for something we did not have. As is our standard procedure, Kyle (one of our drivers who also happens to be a manager) called said customer to let them know the situation. No one answered (typical), so he left a message letting them know we were out of what they wanted, and needed them to call us back, we would not be making their order until they did, so we could make what they wanted as a replacement.

2 hours later, the guy finally calls back. Robert takes the call, explains to the guy what the situation was, and after about 2 minutes of getting yelled at by this guy, comes to get me.

Robert: "The customer thinks I'm lying to him, and he won't listen to me, he just keeps yelling at me."

Mistake number 1, asshole...

So I get on the phone. "This is the manager. What seems to be the problem?" He says, "I ordered a pizza over 2 hours ago, and I want to know why it's not here yet!!" I then proceed to tell him it's because we tried to contact him, and the message we left was never returned, so we never made the food. If he wants us to make it now, we would be more than happy to do so. To which he says, "that's bullshit. They told my wife that it would be late, and that's it"

Lie number 1....

To which I state, "Sir, we never talked to anyone. We only left a message that wasn't returned." While I'm saying this he is trying to talk over me and argue.

Mistake number 2....fucker.

"Sir, if you want me to help you, you really need to let me finish what I have to say, so I can get your order taken care of." Keep in mind, the tone of my voice is changing to that "your pushing your luck" tone, and I can here everyone snickering in the background. Because they already know what's coming before it even happens.

Then it does. Mistake number 3.

Because then he says to me, "You know what? Fuck you!!"

They just never fucking learn, do they???

Because then he gets, "No. You know what? FUCK YOU!!!! Don't ever fucking call here again, because as soon as I get off the phone, I'm going straight to my computer, and I'm making sure you never get food here EVER AGAIN!!!"

*click*

This one actually got it, and I know that, because as soon as I said fuck you to him he got real quiet, and he didn't even bother to call back. So Mr. Juan Rivera of Anaheim, CA, I hope talking all that shit was worth it, because now you will have to go to another restaurant out of your area, you will be forced to go pick it up, as none of our stores deliver outside of their own area, so your delivery priveleges have been revoked.

Maybe if you come in and kiss Robert's lily white ass, AND bring him a written apology, I will change my mind....

Maybe....but I doubt it.

"Girl In the War (Josh Ritter cover)" - Matthew Good

Beautiful cover of a wonderful song...
I started this blog because I needed someplace to put all the thoughts running around in my head. For some reason, my brain is in a constant state of overdrive. Past, present, future....all mixed together. Some of these factors obviously affecting others. Sometimes I really wish it wasn't that way.

I'm having a moment. They come on occasion, and the outcome is usually the same.

The overwhelming urge to just cut and run.

To pick up what little bit of a life I have, take my stuff, and go someplace where no one knows who I am.

In other words.....disappear.

I'm rather good at it, actually. No one can shut out everything and everyone quite like I can. Ask my friends. My really and truly friends. They know more about me than anyone, and they can only keep up with me for one reason.

Because I allow it.

I don't really want or expect much for myself. Maybe just a few happy moments.

I think mine may be all used up. I'm not sure yet. The jury is still out on that one.

I wouldn't be horribly surprised.

I'm used to it.

24 January 2008

I've been to a lot of concerts :)

While I was working on that last post, something came to me that I had been meaning to write for awhile, just for fun. In an attempt to lighten the mood I'm in before I write something of consequence, I decided to do this first.

Due to my love of music, and it being the one thing that makes me truly happy, I go to as many concerts and shows as I possibly can. I went to my first concert when I was 11 years old. My aunt Estelle took me, and I've been hooked ever since. Since I myself am curious as to how long the list is, I'm going to make it right now. It will be more or less in order, I have a damn good memory.

Here goes...

Tears for Fears (my first one)
The Hooters
Jefferson Starship
Bon Jovi/Cinderella (hell yes, I listened to a lot of that stuff XD )
Great White (4 times)
Whitesnake
Tesla (twice)
Sublime (ha ha!!)
No Doubt (twice)
Deftones
Goodness (5 times)
Hagfish (5 times)
Tripping Daisy (7 times)
Possum Dixon (twice)
Presidents of the U.S. (3 times)
Green Apple Quick Step (twice)
Sky Cries Mary (twice)
Everclear (5 times)
Sweetwater (twice)
Candlebox (3 times)
Seaweed
Bad Religion
Bush
Goo Goo Dolls
Oasis
Filter
White Zombie (twice)
Pantera (so many times....5)
Anthrax
311
Sugar Ray (before they became a fucking pop group, they were awesome..)
Incubus (twice)
Gravity Kills
Blink 182
Cake
Third Eye Blind
The Offspring
Harvey Danger (twice)
The Refreshments
Green Day
Spice Girls (yes, seriously)
Korn
Staind
Weezer
Tenacious D
Jimmy Eat World
Matthew Good (9 shows and counting...)
Peppersands (twice)
Honeysuckle Serontina (twice)

Swollen Members
Pennywise
Dropkick Murphys
Treble Charger
Jurrasic 5
A Perfect Circle
Audioslave
Jane's Addiction
Three Days Grace
Theory Of A Deadman
Chevelle
Built To Spill

I may have left someone out...if I did, it's because there have been so many, I've forgotten about them. If you've never been to a concert before (Kenny), you really should go. It's something everyone should experience at least once in a lifetime.

Where my mind is right now

Yeah, I'll write something later tonight, but I just wanted to express a little of where my mind is at right now. As I've always found it easiest to express myself through the music I listen to, I'm gonna hold with that.

This is what I was feeling like first thing this morning...

Then it turned into...

This one speaks volumes...

Then it jumped here...

And temporarily ended with this final thought...

Needless to say, I'm not in a very good mood today. In case you hadn't already figured that out.

Yeah, that's right. I finally figured out how to pull it off, so here it is. The full first season of "Red vs. Blue - The Blood Gulch Chronicles."

Caboose is my hero... XD

Today is video day!!!

I've been up since 6am this morning. I'm fucking tired. So today...

Red vs. Blue PSA - "Planning To Fail"

"I have 37 zombie plans!!!" AAAHHAHAHAHAHHA!!!

Sibel Edmonds documentary

This video is a documentary entitled "Kill The Messenger". Definitely something you should watch, and tell others about.

I'm just the kind of person who likes to hear more than one side of the story...

"Carmelina" - Matthew Good

Everyone already knows that I absolutely LOVE Matthew Good. Just wanted to clarify that once more before I started inundating you with music clips and such. Here we go. I'm even gonna put some order to it. For example, this is the first MG song I ever heard.

This clip is just for fun.

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!

"Cloverfield" mini-review, and the next movie I'm waiting to see

Okay, so I just got back from seeing "Cloverfield". I loved it. I loved it in the same way that I loved "AvP: Requiem". As long as your not expecting some Oscar winning performances, you won't be disappointed.

The movie was filmed in the manner of "Blair Witch", by one of the main characters in the movie, so if watching BWP made you queasy, this one may as well. I don't have that problem, so it was no issue for me. The creature was awesome, if for no other reason than the sheer size of the thing. You have to appreciate an alien who can have nuclear missiles shot at it, and watch it shake it off. Cool as hell.

So before I put everything I just saw in this post, I'm done.

Well, not quite done...

"Ironman" trailer

I saw the preview for this today, and was bouncing in my seat with a big grin because of it. I have made no secret about what a nerd I am, so just to cement that fact, I will tell you this.

I collect comic books. ANY movie based on a comic, especially Marvel, I'm likely to go see. I can honestly say the only one I've been thoroughly disappointed with was "Hulk". Son of a bitch, I'm still mad about that one. To be fair though, Marvel didn't really associate with this one.

So far, it seems they've done right by this. Guess I'll find out in May.

Yet another change

As you can see, there has been another overhaul. I'm sure there will be at least a dozen more before all is said and done. Hell, it could change tomorrow if I get bored. I doubt that will happen though. I have big plans for tomorrow.

I still have free movie passes I got for Christmas. I will use one tomorrow at 2:30 pm to go see this movie...

I'm so excited!!! I'll let you know when I get home if it was any good or not. Well, I mean if I thought it was any good. If it's not, at least I didn't waste any money on it.

15 January 2008

Trailer for "Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian"

I can't even begin to tell you how happy I was to find this. I first heard they were making this one about 6 months ago, and have been waiting for the trailer.

Kinda bummed they didn't do the stories in order, but am so glad they kept the original cast.

I think I may be homesick

Maybe that's what my problem. Well, part of it anyway. Not like I can do anything about it right now. Except visit as soon as possible.

When I speak of home, I mean Bellingham. The one place I've lived in my life that I really loved, so for me, no matter where I end up, Bellingham will always be home.

On that note...

Benjamin Gibbard, of course, being our hometown boy. One of my top 3 DC songs.

My randomness at it's finest

Just so you have a little forewarning, I'm in a rather odd frame of mind right now. So while this may seem somewhat random to you, trust me, in my brain, it all makes absolutely perfect sense.

It's been a rather odd beginning so far to this new year.

Ever hear that saying "sometimes the silence can be deafening"? It's true...

Why do people who have had never had to fight or even work very hard for anything, almost always the first ones to shit on people who have nothing?

I find it rather odd that people who don't even know I, or most other people exist, except as a possible voter, are the ones in charge of our collective fate. By our own hands, or better yet, lack of...

Why do so many people try to be something they're not?

I wish that village in Texas would take back their fucking idiot already. We don't want him.....never did, as a matter of fact.

I find it very amusing that 'older' celebrities are finding it necessary to share this much of their lives with the public. You know, pretty much every 'reality' show shown on VH-1 at this point is of this genre.

Even when your a person who generally trusts no one, sometimes trust, and a little bit of faith are the only things that can get you by in your confusion.

I can't wait to leave California. This place is getting more ridiculous every damn day. My theory is because we are so fucking close to Hollywood, and these idiotic shows about what people think the "O.C." is, more people keep moving here all the time. Blleehhhhhhh.....

Six Flags Magic Mountain is California's only redeeming quality. That's why I'm staying here a little longer, so I can take Dan and Laura when they come visit. It will be a grand finale like no other.

This one has been bugging me all day. When did people get so fucking selfish? When was it okay to make senior citizens, pregnant women, and children stand on the bus, so you and you damn bags could have 4 fucking seats to yourself?? Are you fucking serious?

I think there should be certain things you should have to take test to acquire. If you can't pass it, no go. Some of things should be...

1) to own a pet
2) being allowed a cell phone; hell, a phone in general
3) being allowed to eat in restaurants
4) being allowed to order delivery from a restaurant; your too lazy to come get it, and too
cheap to use your own gas, but you don't believe in tipping the driver? Fuckhead.
5) to be allowed on the internet. Period. No provisions.

I think I've more than made my point, and if I missed anything, which I'm sure I did, your more than welcome to say so.

Missing people important to you rather sucks ass.

Finding out you were more important to some people than you ever realized makes up for it.

See....only to me.

14 January 2008

Just a quick update

Well, tomorrow, I'm finally gonna do it. As soon as I'm done with this post, I'm going to bed. That's early for me. When the rest of you are getting up like normal people and going to work, around 7 or 8am, I'm either just going to bed, or getting ready to. Then, around the time you are taking your lunch break, say anywhere between 11am and 1pm, I'm waking up to start my day. I know, silly.

Since I'll be in bed no later than 3am, I should be awake somewhere around 8am. Which gives me plenty of time to get my shit together, get some bills paid, and go to Best Buy before I go to work. Which means I can get lots of stuff to post tomorrow night when I get home from work. Which means I'll finally be able to post plenty I haven't wanted to do without pictures. I can finally send my sweetie pictures of what I look like NOW, instead of the old one he has from when I was still fat.lol

So more changes will be coming tomorrow, the blog will look completely different again, just because.

Stay tuned. :)

12 January 2008

See, I'm not THAT mean...

I know when it comes to work, it may seem like I'm a bitch to everyone. Not the case. Only to the people that think they can come into the restaurant and think they can treat me and my fellow employees any way they choose.

If you treat us in according manner though, we will do damn near anything to make our customers happy. We are lucky enough to have quite a few regular customers who are always nice to us, so things usually balance out.

For those of you who order food out, especially pizza, may know that most of the bigger chains take internet orders now, as to cut down on phone traffic and mistakes. My restaurant does this, and it has its ups and downs. A couple of the downs being that the internet doesn't know when we run out of product, so we have to call back some of our customers, and they don't always pick up. The other is that there is a comment section for special instructions, which far too many people abuse. Usually we just roll our eyes about it, as most comments entail, "bring us everything you can that we can get for free", or "I know the delivery time is supposed to be an hour and a half, but get it here sooner if you can", and other such gems. The most common is to have their pizza cut special, mostly smaller pieces or square cut. But a couple of weeks ago...

...we get an internet order, with special cut instructions for the second of their two pizzas...

It says, "cut pizza into Mickey Mouse". No bullshit.

Since I was the one cutting, I was the first one to see it. I started laughing, and called everyone over to see it. We all got a good laugh about it, then it happened.

"You dare me?", I asked everyone. To which they all said, "hell yes!"..of course.

So with the cut blade and kitchen knife in hand, I damn well did. I must say, considering that it only took about 2 minutes (I had other stuff coming out of the oven), and the tools I had to work with, it came out pretty damn good.

After everyone took pictures of it, Ian insisted on being the one to deliver it. He wanted to be the one to show it to them. Turns out when he got there, they had no idea about the ticket, as they had their daughter place the order. But they were more than amused that we had actually done it.

One of the many reasons my regular customers love me and the other employees.

So without further ado...

Red Vs. Blue PSA - "Let's all go to the movies"

I haven't done one of these in a while, but not because I've stopped watching it or something. Since Kat, Kyle, and I displayed an unusual amount of unruly behavior when we went to the movies a couple of weeks ago, I felt this one was more than appropriate. But as I said before, we only did it because there was only around 7 people in the theatre.

Funny as hell... :)

The lesson for today is...proper restaurant behavior.

Yeah, yeah...I've been busy, what can I say? Work is very demanding right now.

On that note...

I remember when I first saw the trailer for this movie, I immediately wanted to go see it. But due to my ever fluctuating schedule, this was not to be. On a visit to Dan and Laura's, I spent a lot of time re-organizing (OCD) Dan's movie collection. Also spent a lot of time watching movies. When he found out I hadn't seen this one yet, he about broke his legs to get it in the DVD player so I could watch it.

The movie I speak of is "Waiting...", and if you have ever worked in the food/customer service industry, you would know this movie is an eerily accurate portrayal of the people who work in said jobs, me, of course, being one of them.

Just from my job at the P.H., I can place one of my friends/employees for each character in this movie, myself included. I swear the people who made this movie met me before they created the character "Naomi". XD

Unfortunately, the clip that USED to be here is no longer available *sighs*.

But this one is...what you would have seen at any of the parties between May 2001 and June 2002, when we ruled the Bellingham Pizza Hut...

AAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

08 January 2008

Back to writing....

I think it's time for me to start writing again. Not just posting music and movie clips and shit like that. Not that I'm not gonna still do that, I totally am. I'm just going to start writing a lot more now.

I don't use New Year's as an excuse to turn over a new leaf, or start something different. I just decide to do something, then do it.

I'm now beginning the process of getting things in order to move from California, finally. That will be taking place in spring of this year, and I'm very excited about that.

I no longer qualify as the "fat one"lol It's the first time in my life where I'm honestly comfortable with myself. Starting the last leg of my diet/exercise program this week, something else I'm excited about, since I'm so damn close to my goal. It's been a years long process, but for my health, and finally being able to feel good about myself, it's worth it.

I have wonderful friends. I plan to do my best to keep those friendships nurtured, since my friends ARE my family, and without them, I wouldn't be here, writing this.

My brothers and sisters are all very important to me. They don't always remember, because of the distances between us all. I plan on changing that as well, because I would give my life to save any of theirs, without a second thought.

Like I said, this blog is you getting to know me. This is it. These are the things going on in my head, all the time. That, and many other things.

I don't think I've done this yet, and if I haven't it's long overdue. A huge thank you to the person who told me I should make this blog public. Who convinced me that other people besides him would love to read it. "I'm always right" is something I hear from him quite often. Unfortunately, that fucker has held true to that so far.lol So to my sweetie, I say thank you. If not for him, no one else would have ever seen it.

And thank you to everyone who visits, has visited, and/or commented. I appreciate all the support, it means a lot. :)

More of what I listen to

As I'm sure you've already noticed, I mainly listen to rock music, in it's many shapes and forms. But it's far from the only music I listen to. That being said, when I was younger, I listened to a lot more "pop" music. That's because to me, it was a lot better back then. Now, it's rare I hear anything of that 'genre' that's worth listening to. There are some, though. Here are a few of them:

"S.O.S." - Rihanna

"Rosa Parks" - Outkast (still my favorite song of theirs)

"Jesus Walks" - Kanye West This song made me a fan, still my fav.

To me, true musical talent is always revealed in a live performance. Taking into account that any musician is entitled to a bad night, you can usually still tell the difference between an off night, and bullshit. That being said, let's move on..

"No One (live)" - Alicia Keys This girl is beyond talented. And have you seen "Smokin' Aces"? How can you not love her? :)

Last but not least for this post....

It's almost a requirement....almost. If you grew up in So. Cal. in the 90's, you probably love his music, too.

"Dear Mama" - Tupac Shakur I still love his music to this day. Always will.

Finally back

Ahhh, the first post of the new year. What can I say? I've been sick. I don't function well when I'm sick. Since last Sunday, I have only posted twice, and never got to the letters I said I was gonna write when I did the last post. I've done two things since that day. Sleep and work. That's it. I'm better now. So much to catch up on.

I did do one cool thing this week though. I got up long enough Wednesday (my day off) to go to the movies with a couple of friends.

"Alien vs. Predator: Requiem". We fucking loved it!!!!!

The story is not great, and fairly predictable, to the point of being funny. The thing is, "AvP" is not the kind of movie that you go to see for the story.

The reasons we wanted to see it, the Aliens, and one KICK ASS Predator, made this movie great. The fight scenes were great. The killing of stupid humans, even better.

It was also great, since Kyle, Kat and I were the only people in the theatre for at least the first 15 minutes. Only 6 more people showed up, but went all the way to the back, so we were still pretty much alone in there. We totally took advantage of this by talking to the screen, cheering when the characters we hated got taken out, etc. Fun times were had by all.

Then I came home and went back to bed. Pretty much slept until I had to get up for work the next day. Yesterday, I felt a lot better. Slept some more just to make sure.

Today...all better. Had to deal with Brandon for about an hour today, which of course brought on a headache. Amazingly, when he left, it disappeared. The rest of the night went okay too. Didn't have to argue with any customers, no asshole moments, very nice.

Tomorrow (well, really later today).....back to blogging. :)
